Sunset on Water Painting

"Sunset on Water" I created this bold, impressionistic painting of sunset reflections on water with acrylics on watercolor paper. It's a quick and easy way to create a painting, or for working out compositions, or trying new ideas or color combinations. The watercolor paper is cold press, 300 gsm, 100% cotton. The acrylic paints are Liquitex Heavy Body.

In the YouTube video of this painting, I show how I applied gesso to the watercolor paper, then applied the acrylics, focusing on bold strokes of color for the sunset and water. You can view the short video here: Acrylics on Watercolor Paper.

The painting is currently available (as of May 2026) through my Etsy shop: Etsy.com/Shop/MistyGlowStudio

As I create more art, I'll share it here, from my Misty Glow Studio in Brown County, or through my YouTube channel.

Lake Sunset Reflections Painting

"Lake Sunset Reflections" This brilliant sunset reflects on a tranquil lake surrounded by textured, colorful reeds. The scene is inspired by lakes and breathtaking sunsets near my Brown County home.

In the YouTube video of this painting, I show how I added more light to some areas and more color in others. The reeds at the water's edge are textured and colorful. Paints used are acrylics and some fluorescents. You can view the short video here: Lake Sunset Reflections.

The painting is currently available (as of March 2026) through my Etsy shop: Etsy.com/Shop/MistyGlowStudio

As I create more art, I'll share it here, from my Misty Glow Studio, or through my YouTube channel.

Lake Path Painting

"Path to Lake" This soothing "Path to Lake" painting tutorial can be viewed on my YouTube channel at this link: Misty Glow Studio.

The scene is one near Yellowwood Lake here in Brown County, Indiana. It brings back vivid memories of bees buzzing in the grasses, butterflies flitting from flower to flower, the gentle lap of the water against the shore, and the warmth of the sunshine filtering through the trees.

This is a "square foot painting" -- 12 inches by 12 inches -- done with heavy body acrylic paints on stretched canvas.

I'll be doing more nature-inspired paintings in the weeks to come.

As I create more paintings, I'll share them here, from my Misty Glow Studio, or through my YouTube channel.
