Raining Rainbows Painting

"Raining Rainbows" This painting was inspired by watching the rain fall upon a lake near my home. As I applied the paints, the vision took on a life of its own, feeling as if I were watching a rainbow streaming down into the waters of the lake.

Abstract pieces like these are especially enjoyable and rewarding to render. They help boost creativity, keep painting skills sharp, and provide a gratifying sense of accomplishment. As I'm creating them, I feel such peace and tranquility, which is something we all need more of.

This painting was done on 100% cotton hot press watercolor paper. The paints are Liquitex Heavy Body acrylics in blues, turquoise, reds, magenta, and purples. Beads of titanium white and gesso add glimmers of light through the rain.

In the YouTube video of this painting, I show how I achieved the sense of rainbows melting into the water. You can view the short video here: Quick Abstract Art.

As I create more art, I'll share it here, from my Misty Glow Studio in Brown County, or through my YouTube channel.
